Very good train connections to Trier exist from many German cities. Besides numerous direct connections, there is a wide variety of connections to Trier via the main stations in Coblenz, Saarbrücken, and Luxemburg. The vareo train runs regular connections between Cologne and Trier via the Eifel route.
