The static basic security of the Trier Cathedral was one of the biggest challenges during the major renovation of the cathedral between 1964 and 1974. In addition to foundation and masonry injections, a “clamping system” was developed that holds the masonry together. Starting from the roof space, tension straps ensure the stability of the 1,700-year-old cathedral. Come along to two galleries in the cathedral and take an exclusive look at the fascinating technical achievements of the last cathedral renovation in the anniversary year.
